National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Iowa PAC announced its endorsements of candidates for the Iowa General Assembly
Iowa small businesses continue to struggle with economic uncertainty and regulatory burdens. With higher taxes, more mandates, lingering inflation, and a chronic workforce shortage making it harder for small businesses to keep up, it’s clear that Main Street needs strong advocates in the General Assembly.
“These candidates have proven that they’re willing to fight for our members to own, operate, and grow their small businesses,” said Matt Everson, NFIB Iowa State Director. “NFIB Iowa PAC is grateful for their commitment to making our state a better place to raise a family and do business.”
The NFIB IA PAC endorsement is an important signal to voters across the state that a candidate will stand with small business.
Warme for Senate, Barker for House District 51 on June 4
Voting for our elected officials is both a privilege and a responsibility that I take very seriously. After studying their literature and meeting with each of them individually, I am confident that Kara Warme is the best person to represent our district in the Iowa Senate and Brett Barker is the best candidate to represent Iowa House District 51.

As Governor Kim Reynolds said to a group of over 100 last Friday, Kara will not be outworked and will fight to keep this seat red and to protect the conservative victories made here in Iowa. Kara and her husband Bryan live, work, farm, attend church, and are raising their two daughters inside this district. Kara’s loyalty will be to us, the constituents of Senate District 26. In contrast to her opponent, she has raised the majority of her campaign funds from Marshall and Story counties.

Kara Warme will defend our way of life and conservative values. As a former collegiate cross-country runner, Kara is passionate about protecting the playing field for women in sports. We can count on her to partner with Governor Reynolds’ commonsense efforts to keep biological men out of girls’ sports. Kara is smart, has significant experience as a leader in business, extensively volunteered in her church and pro-life ministries, and devoted much of her time to improving the lives of youth through education and mentoring. Kara Warme is my clear choice for Iowa Senate District 26.

After meeting with him personally, I would also like to endorse Brett Barker in the Republican primary for Iowa House of Representatives, District 51, which includes parts of Marshall and Story counties. Brett already has a proven track record of serving his community and working for strong conservative values. His campaign literature and website are very detailed regarding his stands on many issues, including his support for Iowa farming. I am personally passionate about strengthening Iowa support for Foster and Adoptive families and Brett’s own family is a testimony to his dedication to the same cause. I believe Brett Barker has the intelligence, experience, work ethic, and character to be the best Representative for us in the Iowa House and I proudly support him.

Kara Warme for Iowa Senate
With the recent retirement of State Senator Jeff Edler, we have the opportunity to select a new State Senator to represent us in Des Moines. I’m enthusiastically supporting Kara Warme. As a member of the Marshall County Board of Supervisors, I worked together with Kara on the Central Iowa Community Services committee working to provide and enhance behavioral health services to the people of our region. I’ve been very impressed with Kara utilizing her business abilities into service as the Chief Development Officer for YSS. She has a background of working two decades in telecommunications and marketing leadership, following earning her engineering degree from Stanford and MBA from the University of Iowa. She’s committed to fiscal conservative principles of pro-growth, controlling state expenditures and protecting the taxpayer, especially family farmers.

Kara set her roots in rural Story County with her husband of 19 years. Her political opponents try to attack her time living in California, but they fail to recognize California was where her father was stationed in the Navy while she grew up. Her family’s sacrifice and service should be praised not misguided as a political attack. Her opponents also try to claim she is not a conservative, this is laughable! On top of Kara’s fiscal conservative accolades, Kara is the first and only candidate in this race to dive into the culture war as unapologetically pro-life and confronting the transgender issues infiltrating our youth in schools and biological males’ desire to compete in girls’ sports. That makes Kara a true authentic conservative we can trust.

Wishy washy conservatives avoid leading on these culture issues. The political ruling class in Des Moines runs far from authentic conservative candidates like Kara, and they are running fast as their PAC money has flowed into her opponents’ campaigns. I know Kara, she prioritizes her Christian faith and is a woman of the people. I know who I want representing me, the choice is easy. Join me in supporting Kara Warme in the Republican Primary for Iowa Senate on June 4th, the authentic conservative choice!

Former Navy pilot recounts combat over North Vietnam in 1972 during program at IVH
Dozens of notable active duty military members and veterans have been to the Iowa Veterans Home Malloy Leisure Resource Center, but Navy Commander Curt Dose will stand out in the memories of approximately 75 attendees who heard and watched a dramatic presentation Friday.
Warme emphasized her conservative beliefs and experience in brief remarks following her father’s program.
“I will work for continued tax relief for Iowans, as I believe it has helped the economy,” she said. “I also want to improve education … we have slipped over the years in that area.”
In campaign promotional material she handed out to residents before the program, the candidate and mother of two daughters said she is committed to “always value life,” “defend the Second Amendment,” “protect girls’ sports” and “serve, listen and lead.”
“Growing up in a military family, I know the value of sacrifice and duty to country,” she told the veterans.
“Please vote for Kara,” said Dose, as he hugged his daughter at the conclusion of the event

Family-focused Businesswoman Kara Warme Launches Campaign For Iowa Senate
(Ames, IA) - Today, Republican Kara Warme announced her candidacy for Iowa Senate District 26. The district is currently represented by Iowa Senator Jeff Edler, who is retiring from the legislature. An experienced businesswoman and local community leader, Warme wants to continue Senator Edler’s legacy of conservative results and responsive leadership.
“I want to thank Senator Edler for his dedicated service to our district and the state of Iowa,” Warme said. “Almost 20 years ago my husband and I chose to settle in Iowa because it’s a great place to raise a family. I’m running for the Iowa Senate because I want that to continue to be true for future generations.”
A mother of two, Chief Development Officer for YSS, American Heritage Girls troop leader, and a substitute teacher, Warme is focused on strengthening education in Iowa.
“As a parent and a school-based mentor, I know Iowa has great schools and the potential to get back to first in the nation,” explained Warme. “Education is best when we can recruit and retain fantastic teachers and parents are involved in decisions for their kids.”
